Infrastructure outage

Jon Seager alerts us of an infrastructure outage in a Canonical/Ubuntu data center. Whilst most Ubuntu users shouldn’t be impacted by this outage, it can impact developers or users of some services. We’re told they’re working on restoring the impacted services. The original post has received replies from John Chittum with updates telling us services are gradually coming back online. John gives us some details and will update this post as the status changes.

AMDGPU performance regression in Kernel 7.0.0-28.28

Kleber Souza tells us the Ubuntu Kernel team “acknowledge[s] a performance regression identified within the amdgpu driver for the upcoming 7.0.0-28.28 kernel”. Thanks are given to the “community testers and early adopters for identifying and reporting this behavior” . We’re told what to expect, including who is affected, and that the fix is queued to be included in the next upgrade. Reasoning for the delay, links, and more are included.

The OMP SDK automation: a hands-off story

Pietro Pasotti mentions the recent release of omp as a Workshop SDK. We’re given details on
the release and some decisions; this leads to a description of the release cycle that will be used. The description includes details on how this process is automated to reduce developer time.

Gunnar Wolf posts that DebCamp is underway [13 - 25 July], and it’ll soon be time for DebConf. Gunnar tells us he’s got the task to coordinate a DebConf26 keysigning party, and provides the link to the DebConf26 keysigning map. If we’re going to DebConf26, we’re asked to confirm we’re on the list and if we’re not, we’re told how to sign it; though the deadline for adds/edits has now passed.

Linux 7.2 Enabling UltraRISC RISC-V Support In The Default Kernel Build

Michael Larabel writes about UltraRISC RISC-V coverage now being enable by default for RISC-V Linux 7.2 kernels. We’re told the merge that achieves this is found in Linux 7.2-rc3, which is soon to release. Michael gives a link to the merge request and some details.

Ubuntu 26.04 fixes trash dialog bug that defaulted to cancel

Joey Sneddon tells us of a fix for “Nautilus that restores the ‘delete’ as the focused button in the trash confirmation dialog”. We’re given some details of this from a user perspective, and told the GNOME developers ‘flipped’ it by mistake. Further we’re told the package has already reached proposed in Ubuntu 26.04 repositories.
